Wade, Lesco



Lesco Wade, 107, of Newton, died Wednesday (Aug. 25, 1999) at Newton Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 6, 1892, in Marlin, Texas, to Lesco Sr. and Rena (Carter) Wade. He married Octavo Cochran March 23, 1913, in Wynnewood, Okla. She preceded him in death.

He joined the Second Baptist Church in Newton, where he was ordained deacon of the deacon board. He was a volunteer for Santa Fe Fire Department in Newton.

He was a member of Knights of Tabor Lodge and Rising Sun Masonic Lodge No. 69, both of Newton, where he served both as Worshipful Master.

He was employed as a boilermaker for the Gulf, Colorado Santa Fe Railroad in Oklahoma, and the ATSF in Kansas, retiring in 1966, after 58 years of service.

Survivors include: one daughter,; daughter-in-law, 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

He also was preceded in death by three sons, Carl Wade, Ernest Wade and Gregglar Wade; three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Second Baptist Church with Dr. Leonard F. Gray, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with Second Baptist Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
