Elsie E. Zielke

Elsie E. Zielke, 91, died Tuesday (Dec. 12, 2000) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.


She was born April 1, 1909, to Cornelius H. and Katherina (Voth) Schmidt in Walton. They preceded her in death. She married Arnold A. Zielke July 30, 1933, in Walton. He preceded her in death Feb. 26, 1984.

She was a member of Grace Community Church in Newton. She lived in the area all of her life.

Survivors include: two sons, Darrell Zielke of Bothell, Wash., and Ronald Zielke of Newton; four brothers, Clarence Schmidt of Washington, Earl Schmidt of Pawnee Rock, Harold Schmidt of Hesston and Milton Schmidt of Goessel; a sister, Edna Schrag of Wichita; a grandson, Kendall Zielke of Newton; two granddaughters, Deborah Zielke-Lucas of Bothell, Wash., and Sharon Zielke-Voth of Goessel; and nine great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by: a brother, Charles Schmidt; and three sisters, Irma Schmidt, Hilda Schroeder and Martha Unruh.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Grace Community Church with Pastor David Reimer officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials have been established with the Grace Community Church MISSIONS fund in care of the funeral home
