McAtee, Minnie

The Burrton Telephone

Minnie McAtee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. McAtee, aged 5 years, 8 months and twenty-four days, on Tuesday, Oct. 7th, of membranous croup.

Minnie was the first child born in Burrton, and was a general favorite in the community. Her little playmates will miss her sadly. After suffering the most intense agony for three days and nights, she passed away. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. Eliot, pastor of the Christian Church, assisted by Rev. Kingery, of the Presbyterian Church, and Rev. Post of the Baptist, in the Christian Church. The many friends of the deceased and family were in attendance and after the short address by Rev. Eliot, whose remarks were of a character to inspire the bereaved parents and sisters of little Minnie, with the assurance that there would be a reunion in the better and happier land, the last look was taken before she was laid away in her last resting place. At the grave a few songs were sung while performing the last rites.

While it is sad for the bereaved family to part with their loved one, yet there is one thought that should cheer and comfort them, that when the toils, trials, and the life in this world are ended that there will be a grand and happy reunion, never to be broken.
