William Thomas Dillman, "Tom", as he was familiarly known by his many friends here, passed away at his home at 215 West Ninth at noon July 16. following an illness of seven years, which became acute a year and a half ago and has confined him to his bed for the past three weeks.

Mr. Dilliam is numbered among the older residents of Harvey county, having come to this vicinity in October, 1881 from Indiana, making 52 years spent here. He and his wife first came to Newton where they lived for a little over a year and then they moved to district 20 in Emma township, which place was their home for more than 35 years. He has lived in Newton for the past 13 years. Highly respected, kind and generous, with a good business head, he was chosen by his neighbors to serve on the school and township board for many years. He was the father eight sons and one daughter and this fine family of children was his great pride. He loved to have them near him and he often spoke with great satisfaction of the fact that when they grew up and married they settled near him and he could be with them often. The death of his son, Lon, of Hesston on Feb. 1, 1932, was a sorrow from which he never fully recovered.

William Thomas Dillman was born in Clear Creek, Indiana, January 23, 1860 a son of Isaac Marion and Joan (Mathers) Dillamn, making him 73 years, five months and 23 days at the time of death. At the age of 19 years he was married to Agnes Dearmin of Bloomington, Indiana on Dec. 6, 1879 and to this union were born eight sons and one daughter, eight of whom survive to comfort their mother. They are Fred B., Dewey, Gilbert, and Lawrence of this city, Charles, Taylor, Howard, Isaac, and Dearmin of Hesston, Mrs. Clayton Zimmerman of Zimmerdale and Carl of Halstead. There are 24 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Brothers and siusters surviving are Lizzie Dillman and Mrs. Blanche Berger of Reading, Pa., Elmer of Elterville, Indiana, John of Clear Creek, Indiana and Willis of Nardin, Oklahoma.

He was a member of the Clear Creek, Indiana Christian church.

The funeral services will be held at ten o'clock Wednesday morning at the Christian church in Newton, The Rev. F. U. Moyer, assisted by the Rev. Logan Martin, officiating. Friends may see Mr. Dillman at the Sprinker Mortuary on Tuesday afternoon and he will be taken to his late home Tuesday evening to await the funeral services the next day. Entombment will be in Greenwood Abbey.
