Caroline Frame Mannon was born 69 years ago In Honey Grove, Texas. At the age of two years or less, she was sold as a slave and taken to Cave City, Ky. There she remained until after her marriage to Harvey Mannon in 1882. They moved to Kansas in 1889, settling on a farm west of Newton, where they made lasting friendship's among their neighbors. To them were born one son. In 1907 the family moved to Taft, Okla., remaining there five years. Mr. Mannon died in 1909, and her young son, Silas, then only a school boy manfully took his father's place as provider. Three years later she and her son moved back to Newton.
She confessed religion and was baptized about two years ago and joined the A. M. E. church of this city. Mrs. Mannon was loved and respected by all who knew her, and was one of those unique loveable characters. Death overtook her at Bethel hospital, Oct. 5, 1922, at 1:30 p. m. She leaves her son and a few other relatives and a host of friends.
