Marti, William
William Adolph Marti was born in Newton, Kansas, November 16, 1882, the son of the late Phillip Marti and Mary Eichoff Marti. He grew to manhood in this community, and was converted at the age of 26 years and united with the First Baptist Church of Newton. After moving to Kansas City in 1919, he and his wife transferred their membership to the Argentine Baptist church.
He was married to Miss Alta Showalter of Newton, May 19, 1905. To this union two sons were born. Paul, now of St. Louis, and Kenneth of Topeka. Mrs. Marti and the sons survive, and also Mrs. Phillip Marti, mother of the deceased, and also grandchildren Paul Jr. and Bonnie Marie Marti.
Adolph as he was well known here, was in continuous employment of the Santa Fe Railway for 38 years, several years in Newton, and in Kansas City since 1919.He passed away suddenly at his home 1940 Ruby Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas on Saturday November 15, 1941 within one day of age 59.
He was a husband and father who was intensely interested, not only in the affairs of members of the family, but also in the community, and national and spiritual matters as well. A host of true friends have shown unusual affection for him and his bereft family at this time.
Funeral services were held in Argentine Monday afternoon, in the Argentine Baptist church with the Rev. J. P. Whitlatch, pastorof that Church, Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. E. E. McFarlane officiating assisted by Rev. O. M. Showalter, pastor of the State Avenue Baptist Church of Kansas City who used his text Hebrews 13:14.
