McDonald, Vida I.

Halstead Independent

Vida Iola Williams, daughter of William LaFayette and Virginia A. Williams was born in Eclectic, Elmore County, Alabama on August 12, 1873. She came to Harvey Co., Kansas with her parents in 1876.

She was the last survivor of a family of ten chhildren. She was united in marriage to John W. Pierce on April 3, 1892. He passed away on Sept 2, 1902 from Multiple Scerosis. She later was united in marriage to T. E. McDonald in 1904 who preceded her in death in 1941.

She united with the Methodist Church at an early age and was a faithful attendant as long as her health permitted.

She returned to Halstead from California in 1947 and made her home with her niece, Mrs. Bertha Lawrence. She entered the Bethel Home at Newton, Kansas in 1955 and was residing there at the time of her death.

Funeral services were held in the First Methodist Church with James L. Andrews officiating. Burial was in the Halstead cemetery.
