Obituary

Ella Cordelia Dodson, daughter of Charles Frederick and Ellizabeth Francis Dodson, was born on February 27, 1873 near Sedgwick and departed this life at the Halstead Hospital on May 2, 1958, age 85 years, 2 months, 5 days.

She grew to womanhood in the Sedgwick community and was united in marriage to Arthur Barnett Williams on April 2, 1893, who now survives her. Mr. & Mrs. Williams had just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this last April. They lived on a farm nine miles southwest of Halstead. Eight children were born to this union, all of whom survive her: Rolland H. Williams of Topeka; Oral P. Williams, Ulysses; Arthur W. Williams of Lawton, Okla; Ivan R. Williams, Halstead; Donald E. Williams, Sedgwick; Mrs. Leah L. Armour of Wichita; Mrs. Velma L. Nelson of Winnemucca, Nevada and Mrs. Vera M. Hege, Sedgwick.

Mrs. Williams was a loving mother with a very deep devotion to her husband, children and her home. Her gentle and kind Christian spirit was always in evidence her entire life, and was felt ty everyone who knew her, and this fine quality was revealed during her prolonged illness. She possessed a bright and cheerful optimsm toward life, with a wonderful sense of peace and good will in her heart.

She was converted when a young girl, and united with the Methodist Church at Centennial. She had a deep and abiding love for God, and trusted him throughout her entire life.

Besides her children, she is survived by 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Bertha Dudley of Loveland, Colorado also survives.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, May 4 at the Methodist Church in Halstead with Rev. H. G. Feldmann officiating.
