Williams, Theda Joyce

Halstead Independent

Theda Joyce Williams died as she wished to ...no pain, no long illness.

It is not easy to think about death because we were made for Life. Yet, when we as a family, who held so dear and loved so much, the life of Theda Joyce Williams, we as friends and neighbors of hers and the Williams family; recover from the blow from the sense of tremendous Loss and the "VOID" that crept into our hearts when the tragic accident took the life of this young Mother; we will say, Thank God, she didn't have to suffer, and she didn't have to become an invalid.

Her life was taken on Thursday October 14th. She was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. O. R. Fancher and was born in Altus, Oklahoma on September 3, 1923. On May 26, 1947 she was married to Ivan R. Williams at Seattle, Washington. To them were born two daughters, Patricia Gail and Pamela Gwyn. Little "Patty" passed away on March 6, 1951; only reaching the age of nine months and eleven days.

In addition to her husband, Ivan R. Williams and daughter, Pamela Gwyn, six years of age, she is survived by her parents; Mr. & Mrs. Fancher of Altus, Oklahoma and the following sisters and brothers; Mrs. Mary Hostland of Olustee, Oklahoma; Mrs. Wilma Bell of Denver; Mrs. Paula Skillman; Mrs. Linda Russell and Miss Sue Fancher, all of Oklahoma City; Boyd and Sidney Fancher of Altus; William Fancher of Hollis, Okla. and Kay Fancher of Oklahoma City; her parents-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. A. B. Williams of Halstead.

Theda Joyce was a member of the Baptist Church and also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 407 of Halstead.

She was a young mother with a philosophy in life that made a diference in living. Her mission on earth was truly that of a Wife, a Mother, a Homemaker, hers was a Mission to make people happy. One cannot write about her; one had to know Theda Joyce to know her zest for life; to know of her friendships; her devotion; her unselfish spirit; her generosities. Only then can one understand the Loss to her family, the tragic-ness of her departure.

Memorial services were held in the First Presbyterian Church of Halstead.
