Permelia Ann Hunt was born in Huntsville, Mississippi October 29, 1843. She died at Burrton, Kansas October 23, 1925, lacking only six days of living four score and 2 years. She was the eldest of the family of five children of Mr.& Mrs. J. J. Hunt.
She was united in marriage to Joel Abner Moore on January 29, 1865 near Huntsville, Miss. To them were born a son, John and a daughter Madonna, both having preceded her to the world beyond.
She united with the Baptist church in Mississippi early in life, later joining the Christisn church and on coming to Kansas, she with her husband, became charter members of the Christian church at this place and was a faithful member until her death.
She came with her husband to Reno County in 1872 and homesteaded a quarter section of land southwest of Burrton, moving to Burrton in 1875 and residing here ever since with the exception of a few intervening years spent on the farm.
Her husband passed away May 9, 1905. Survivors: three sisters, Mrs. John Myers, Burrton, Ks; Mrs. Evelyn Ballard, Joplin, Mo; Mrs. Rebecca Collins, Los Angeles, Calif; John W. Hunt, Florida City, Florida, a foster son, Charles Ballard Moore and a foster daughter Nettie Hanselman Jaynes of Eugene, Oregon and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church, Rev. M. J. Duncan of Macksville conducting the service assisted by Rev. Romig of Newtonl. Interment was made in the Burrton cemetery.
