Carmichael, Cora M.

Mrs. Cora Carmichael died last Sunday morniing, April 11, in St. Joseph Hospital, Wichita. She was born in Maben Mississippi on Feb. 4, 1873, she was 92 years of age. She came to the Burrton community when she was six, making her a pioneer resident.

In 1895 she married Dougal Carmichael who died in 1942. Among Burrton people, Mr. Carmichael was known as Dick, instead of the Scotch name, Dougal. After leaving Burrton, Mr. & Mrs. Carmichael operated a store in Haven, before going to Hutchinson.

Mrs. Carmichael was a member of First Christian Church in Hutchinson, and belonged to the Gold Star Mother's Organization.

Survivors: daughters, Mrs. Austin Stone, Burrton; Mrs. Ruby McNeill, Topeka: Mrs. Ruth Hill, Fairmont, West Virginia; Mrs. Florence Henderson, Colorado; Mrs. Virginia Steels, Wichita. She leaves also ten grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in her church Wednesday with Rev. N. Gayle Fischer officiating. Burial was in Burrton cemetery.
