Norris, David
The Newton Kansan
Kansan, Thursday, January 19, 1912
David Wiggens Norris, who answered the summons of death at his home in Newton on September 14, 1912, was born in Rockaway, New Jersey, August 1, 1851. He resided at Rockaway with his parents until after he was 20 years of age when he enrolled in washbash college, at Crawfordsville, Indiana, which institution he attended for three years. During the 70s he came to Kansas and settled on a farm in McPherson county. In 1878 he was married to Miss Lottie Evans. After a few years they moved to McPherson and Mr. Norris entered the employ of the Ottawa star Nursery, continuing with this company for twenty years of faithful, efficient service, having been held in the highest esteem by the company. Sixteen years ago they came to Newton which place has been his home since.
Mr. Norris was a member of the Presbyterian church having united with that creed while in New Jersey. His death came as a shock to his family, friends and acquaintances, for while he had been ill at his home for nearly two weeks, his condition had not been considered serious, but on September 14 he passed away. His funeral services were held at the family home, conducted by Rev. J. B. McCuish, and entombment was made in the family crypts in Greenwood mausoleum.
