Matlack, Clyde C.

Clyde C. Matlack was born March 23, 1883 near Burrton, Kansas and died June 25, 1923 at Halstead, Kansas, age 40 years, 3 months. He was united in marriage January 1, 1908 to Lucy N. Carmichael, Rev. W. L. Hinshaw performing the ceremony. To this uunion were born four children: Orval M., Raymond M., Opal Oleta and Mary Alice.
He leaves to moourn his depaarture his beloved wife and four children, his father and mother, four brothers and two sisters besides other relatives and a host of friends.
He was converted and joined the United Brethren church in the winter of 1915 and retained a strong christian faith throuogh the remainder of his life. He died rejoicing in the love of Christ and hope of heaven.
He bore all suffering with kind patience and fortitude that still farther endeared him in the minds of loved ones and of friends, choosing Psalms 23, as a scripture lesson and John 3:16 as a text for the funeral service. He also chose the pall bearers and songs he wished sang,"The touch of his hand on mine," "The future lies before", "Sometime, Somewhere", We"ll understand".
Rev. W. L. Hinshaw of Sterling conducted the service at the First Christian Church. The four brothers, Karl, Fred, Guy and Ralph acted as Pall bearers. Large numbers of friends in life attended and the mortal remains were laid to rest by loving hands in the Burrton Cemetery.
