Blanche Harris Matlack, 85, Clearwater, formerly of Burrton, died Saturday, January 20, 1996 at Ninnescah Manor, Clearwater, where she had been a resident for ten years.
She was born September 20, 1910 at Burrton, daughter of Harry and Mary Ellen Davis Harris. A longtime resident of Clearwater, formerly of Wichita and Burrton, she was a bookkeeper for Harris Lumber in Burrton, and also worked for Internatioinal Harvester in Burrton and Clearwater, and for Matlack Construction in Clearwater. She retired in 1971. She was a 1928 Graduate of Burrton High School.
She was a member of the Clearwater United Methodist Church and a member of Federated Womens Clubs in Burrton and Clearwater, and the Order of Eastern Star in Burrton.
On July 16, 1928 she married Orval M. Matlack at Hutchinson. He died March 24, 1978.
Survivors: son, Don Matlack, Clearwater; two daughters, Nancy Kays, Claremont, California and Elaine Watt, Agoura, California; two brothers, Warner Harris, Mr. Hope and Harold Harris, Denver, Colorado; sister, Mae Galloway, Wichita, 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, James Warren Matlack and two sisters, Mildred Merritt and Beula Thompson
Funeral services were held at the church in Clearwater with burial in the Burrton, Kansas cemetery.
