Obituary

Jacob Henry Hege, son of Daniel and Christina Hege, was born September 1, 1861 at West Point, Iowa and passed away at the Halstead Hospital November 14, 1944, 83 years two months and thirteen days old.

On Janury 25, 1885 he was united in marriage to Anna Barbara Leisy. They made their home on a farm near Claflin, Kansas until the year 1899, at which time they moved to their home southeast of Halstead and where he resided until the time of his death. To this union were born eight children, two of whom died in infancy.

Those surviving are: John of Halsted; Edgar of Sedgwick; Paul of Wichita; Myrtle, Larchmont,New York; Mrs. Hulda Bewick, Larchmont, New York; Mrs. Esther Ascraft of Kingman, Kansas. Also two brothers, Peter A. and Daniel J; two sisters, Mary and Christina, all of Newton, eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. His wife and faithrul companion passed away in April of 1940.

In early life, he was converted and became a member of the Mennonite Church; later transerring his membership to the Christian Church of Sedgwick.

Services were conducted from the Methodist Church of Halstead November 17 with Rev. Logan Martin, pastor. Burlai was in the Halstead cemetery.
