Edgar Jacob Hege, 71, was killed March 31, 1964 neaar Oxford, Kansas when the tractor he was driving overturned, pinning him underheath.
Cowley County Deputy Sheriff, Jerry Wiley, said two Oxford youths discovered the accident atout 6:30 p.m. The two boys called for help and a wrecker was sent to free Hege's body.
The two boys saw the overturned tractoor while driving on a nearby county road. He said Hege had last been seen about 4 p.m. and probably died shortly after. He was cultivatiing land along the edge of a creek bed when the tractor overturned. His farm is about 1 1/2 miles northeast of Oxford.
He was born January 16, 1863 the son of Jacob Henry and Anna Barbara Leisy Hege.He married Tillie M. Ewy on December 225, 1920 at Halstead, Kansas.
Survivors: widow, Tillie of the home, sons, E. Keith, Tuscon, Arizona, Norman, Oxford; brothers, John, Halstead, Paul, Wichita, sisters, Mrs Frank Ashcraft, Kingman, and Hulda Bewick, Larchmont, New York.
Services were held in Oxford with burial in Halstead Cemetery.
