Hege, Carl Frederick
Halstead Independent
Carl Frederick Hege was born at Halstead, Kansas on June 5, 1883 and passed away at his home on the farm north of Halstead on July 28, 1950, having reached the age of 67 years, 1 month and 22 days. He had not enjoyed good health for sometime and during the last two months, his health failed rapidly.
Carl was the oldest son of the late Menno S. and Katherine Baer Hege. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bert Hege.
He was married to Pearl Rand of Halstead, Kansas in the summer of 1907. Two sons and three daughters were born: Mrs. Elizabeth Weber, Wichita, Kansas; Charles Hege, Newton, Kansas; Mrs. Catherine Ibe, Burbank, California; Mrs. Faye Urick, Los Angeles, California and Robert Hege of the home. In addition to his children, he is survived by a brother, Daniel Hege, Escondido, California and a sister, Mrs. Mildred Hege Sayler of Los Gatos, California; thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mr. Hege was a kindly and thoughtful neighbor and friend. He was very devoted to his children and his home, which he maintained in an affectionate and dignified manner. He was abundatly rewarded for his faithfulness by a loving and devoted family who enjoyed the fellowship of a good home. Mr. Hege was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge.
Services were held at the First Presbyterian Church with burial in the Halstead Cemetery.
