Victor David Wright was born January 1, 1861 at Gillman, Illinois and at the time of his death was 69 years, 9 months of age. He came to Kansas February 22, 1878 and settled on a farm southwest of Halstead. On February 27, 1890 he was united in marriage with Miss Alice Rosetta Cadwell and to this union seven children were born, six of whom survive with their mother, Mrs. Pearl Wright of Newton: Mrs. Iva Wright Brower, Glendale, California; Mrs. Selma Wright Brown, Hutchinson; Lloyd C., Harland and Claude C. of this city. Mr. Wright was well known in this vicinity where he lived for many years until aabout two years ago when he went to western Kansas to accept a osibion. He was getting along nicely and apparently enjoyed good health at the time of his sudden death, which was a great shock to his many friends in this city and to the many new friends made during his residence in and near Dodge City. He was a true Christian and in his every day life he practiced the principles of good citizenship, was loyal to his friends and endeavored to do what he believed to be right.

On the day of his death, he worked until 5 o'clock and as he was preparing to go to town, he suddenly fell and when a friend with whom he was working reached his side, his spirit had taken flight.
