Stutzman, Frank

Mt Hope Newspaper

Amos Franklin Stutzman, son of Jonathon and Margaret Stutzman was born April 12, 1867 hear Goshen, Indiana. After a lingering illness, he departed this life on August 19, 1944 at his home in Mt. Hope, Kansas, age 75 years, 4 month, 7 days.

When about twelve years of age, he moved with his parents to McPherson, Kansas and later to Kearney County near Lakin, Kansas. In 1895 he moved again this time to Harvey County, where he lived until he moved to Mt. Hope nineteen years ago. He resided in this community until his death.

On December 19, 1869 he was united in marriage to Carrie Rosanna Cadwell. To this union were born seven children, all who survive.

When a young man, he was converted and joined the United Brethren Church near McPherson, later transferring his membership to the Centennial Methodist Church and then later to the Mt. Hope Methodist Church.

He was a modest man who loved his home and his family and was always in friendly relationship with his neighbors. He was a man of extreme patience and bore cheerfully his load even thouogh at times it was a
heavy one. His last illness was with him more than six months. He will be greatly missed by family and neighbors.

Survivors: his wife, Carrie; two daughters, Mrs. Hans Vollweider of Halstead and Mrs. Marion Parker of Burrton; five sons, Bert, Raymond and Marion of Burrton; Arthur of Sedgwick and Floyd of Wilson, Kansas; 12 grandchildren; one brother, William of Halstead; one sister, Dr. Frances V. Hulpienn of Wichita.

Services were conducted from the Mt. Hope Methodist Church with burial in the Halstead Cemetery.
