Stutzman, William H.
Halstead Independent
William Henry Stutzman, son of Jonathan and Margaret Walter Stutzman, was born at Middlebury, Indiana June 4, 1861. He passed away October 27, 1946 at his home in Halstead, age 85 years, 4 months, 23 days.
In 1879 he moved with his parents to McPherson county, Kansas. While attending a revival meeting conducted by Rev. Meyers, he was converted and joined the church. On August 17, 1884 he married Luella A. Walden and to this union, seven children were born; three sons and four daughters. In 1935 two daughters, Mrs. Grace Warren and Mrs. Bessie McClurkin, passed away. He is survived by his wife, Luella A. Stutzman and children, Claude Stutzman, Holcomb, Kansas; Mrs. A. A. Benson of Hutchinson; Frank Stutzman of Lamar, Colorado; Percy Stutzman of Larned, Kansas; Mrs. Eva Bumgardner of Dodge City, Kansas and one sister, Dr. F. V. Hulpleu of Wichita, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
With his wife and eldest child, he moved to Kearney County, Kansas in 1886 where they lived for 53 years, being engaged in farming and stock raising. In 1939 he and his wife moved to Halstead.
Services were held October 29 at the Methodist church with burial in Halstead Cemetery.
