Lentz, Adda M.

Halstead Independent

Adda M. Lentz passed away June 1, 1931 as the result of an illness of about five years, which terminated into cancer two years ago.

She had been under the care of a physician since 1926 and about eighteen months ago underwent an operation for the removal of cancer. Although the operation was a successful one at the time, she never fully regained her health and spent a great part of her time in the wheel chair. About a week ago, her condition became so serious as to confine her to her bed.

She was born Adda Grubb Lentz, daughter of David and Harriet Grubb and was born January 13, 1860 in Liberty, Illinois where she grew to a young woman. On August 6, 1883 she married George Lentz after which they came to Kansas, settling on a farm southwest of Halstead. To this union were born three sons, one of whom passed away in infancy. They continued to reside on a farm until 1920 when they retired to establish a home on south Chestnut where she passed away at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 18 months.

Surviving her are her husband; two sons, Carl and David, both of Halstead; one sister, Mrs. Susan McVay of Gibbs, Missouri; five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church with Rev. J. J. Hammell officiating, assisted by Rev. T. F. Rudisill. Interment will be made in the City Cemetery.
