Chesky, Jack Charles

Halstead Independent

Jack Charles Chesky, 18, of Rt. 2 Halstead died at Halstead Hospital early today from injuries he received in a one car accident at 3:30 a.m. today a half mile west of Sedgwick on county road 588.

He was a passenger in a car driven by his twin brother, Bill Price Chesky, 18, who is reported in serious condition at the Halstead Hospital. The Chesky car reportedly struck a bridge. Sheriff's officeers reported that the driver walked to a nearby house where a Sedgwick ambulance was called. Officers have not been able to talk with the driver because of his injuries. Cause of accident has not been determined. Parents of the youths are Mr. & Mrs. Victor E. Chesky Jr. of rural Halstead.

The youth was born January 17, 1954 at the Halstead Hospital and spent his entire life in the area. He had graduated this spring from Wichita Collegiate School. He was a member of the school's Bible Club and was active in athletics.

In addition to his parents and brother, Bill, survivors include two other brothers, Victor E. III and Eric, all of the home; grandmothers, Mrs. V. E. Chesky Sr. of Halstead and Mrs. Leah Custer of Clearwater.

Funeral arrangements are pending. Burial will be in Halstead Cemetery.
