Fred E Hoffer

Fred E. Hoffer, 67, ,died March 29, 2006 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita. He was born August 9, 1938. in Halstead, the son of Fredrick and Lydia C. Smith Hoffer. A lifelong resident, he was shop foreman for Eaton Fluid Power in Hutchinson. He belonged to Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wichita, the National Rifle Association and DDR Cowboy Shooting Club and was a hunter safety instructor and former member of the Halstead JayCees, Halstead Park Board and the Old Settlers Committee, all of Halstead.

On Novembe 20, 1959 he married Renate K. Leitschuh in Flosheim, Germany. She died February 13, 1981. On November 26, 1981 he married Linda M. Keene in Halstead. She survives.

OPther survivors include: three stepsons, Timothy Green, Valley Center, Shane Thompson, Halstead and Toryano Thompson, Wichita; sister, Evelyn Wageman, Modesto, California and two stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and Adolph Hoffer and two sisters, Adeline Brown and Marie Hoffer.

Funeral will be held at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead with burial in Halstead Cemetery.
