Koehn, Glenn Dale

Glenn Dale Koehn, 76, retired Dillon's pharacist died Monday at Halstead Place Assisted Living Center. He was born December 25, 1930 in Lakin, Kansas, son of William H. and Laurine Tina Becker Koehn.

His family moved to Halstead when Dale was a young boy and he received his education in Halstead. As a young man, he witnessed his mother's concern for lost souls and after attending some gospel tent meetings, he felt his need of a Savior and committed his life to God. Recently he attended First Presbyterian Church in Halstead. He graduated from Grace Bible Institute with bachelor's degree and earned a degree from the University of Kansas school of pharmacy in 1962. A pharmacist for 45 years, he worked in Dallas, Houston and Miami. He moved back to Halstead 10 years ago, working in area Dillon's stores. He retired from Dillon's #25 Hutchinson.

He served two tours of duty in the U.S. Army. In his first tour, he volunteered to be in a test of the Atomic bomb at the atomic proving grounds. He served his second tour in Germany as an operations staff sergeant and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service.

Survivors: brothers; Wayne of Ulysses; Gerald of Mountain View, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Innes, Kenneth and Franklin; infant sister, Billie Elaine Koehn.

Committal service will be 9 p.m. Thursday in Halstead Cemetery. Memorial service will follow at the First Presbyterian Church.
