Obituary

Jennie Louise Toevs, 58, wife of Edward E. Toevs, passed away Friday Januaary 17, 1964 at the Halstead Hospital following a long illness. Mrs. Toevs was born August 22, 1905 at Durham, Kansas, the daughter of Wiley and Lena Hensley. She came to Halstead in 1925 and attended Halstead High School, graduating with the class of 1926. She and Mr. Toevs were united in marriage on May 2, 1928 in Hutchinson, Kansas

Mrs. Toevs was a member of the First Mennonite Church of Halstead, where she was an active member of the Home Builders Sunday School Clss, Reading Circle and the Wednesday Quilters. She also served on the Smorgasbord Dinner Committee. She was a member of the Friday Study Club, a charter member of the Halstead Hospital Auxillary and was active in other civic affairs.

Survivors: her husband; two sons, Loren E. of East Peroria, Illinois and Harold E. of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers, James Hensley of Tampa; Robert Hensley of Halstead; four sisters; Agnes Pientka of Marion; Margaret Scott of Halstead; Mrs. Elizabeth Daniels of Oklahoma City; Mrs. Josephine Neuwirth of Lost Springs; four grandchildren. Another brother, Harvey, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at the church. Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery.
