Obituary

Roy Edwin Simonson, 64, died early Tudaday morniig in the Halstead Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born August 9, 1896 on the family farm three miles south of Halstad, son of Dennis and Mary Simonson. Roy spent his entire 64 years on the family farm where he became active in community and county functions. He served as county commmissioner for Harvey County, on the School Board of the Simonson school for 20 years and was Trustee of the township board until the time of his death.

Mr. Simonson was maried to Martha Baum on September9, 1919 at Sedgwick. His widow survives him. To this union were born four daughters, all of whom survive him. They are Mrs. Dwight (Jean) McFarlane, Derby; Mrs. Paul (Dorothy) Campbell of Valley Center; Mrs. John (Norma) Berry of Washington, D.C. and Mrs. Howard (Faye) Osborne of rural Sedgwick. Also surviving are four sisters, Miss Alice Simonson and Mrs. Bertha Carter of Stafford; Mrs. Sarah Werbin of Sedgwick and Mrs. Edna Dreese of Halstead; 13 grandchildren.

Services were held Thursday September 1. Burial was in the Halstad cemetery.
