Obituary

Maude Stella Darney, 90, Newton, former Halstead resident, died September 30, 1989 at Kidron Bethel Home in Newton. She was born August 18, 1899 in Halstead, daughter of A. J. and Lillie Stever VanHorn. She married Frank Darney June 3, 1920 and he died September 24, 1958. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church and had lived in Harvey County all of her life.

Survivors: son, William F., San Francisco, California; 3 daughters, Norma May Dandurand, Wichita; Clara Eilene Darney, Sedgwick and Gladys Cooke, Los Angeles, California; 5 brothers; Orville VanHorn, San Antonio, Texas; Clive VanHorn, Sacramento, California; Maurice VanHorn, Wichita; Merle VanHorn, San Bernardino, California and Earl VanHorn, Houston, Texas; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Services were held at Peterson's Funeral Home with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
