Obituary

Dr. Jack W. Welch, 70, died Friday, June 23, 1989 at his home in Halstead. A memorial service will be Wednesday morning at First Presbyterian Church in Halstead with the Rev. Dale L. Powell officiatiing. Private burial will be in the Halstead Cemetery.

He was born Novemberr 2, 1918 in Lewistown, Illinois, he married Jane Chesky November 18, 1944 at Halstad. She survives. A retired surgeon, he practiced over 30 years at the Hertzler Clinic. He was a resident of Halstad since 1952.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, American Medical Associatiion, Kansas Medical Association, Society of Head and Neck Surgeons, and was a fellow in the International College of Medicine, a former president of Halstead City Council and former president of Hertzler Clinic Association. He was active in local and state Republican politics and civic affairs and was a veteran of the World War II Army Dental Corps.

Survivors also include a son, Alan of Wichita; three daughters, Susan Ruder of Wichita; Sara Welch of Westminister, Colorado and Joan Major of Arvada, Colorado; sister, Joan Jarvis of Tempe, Arizona and three grandchildren.
