Obituary

HALSTEAD -- Nina Keithly, 93, died Sunday (Feb. 23, 2003) at Newton Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 25, 1909, to Truman Enos and Bertha Rosa (Keplinger) Schendel in Lyndon. They preceded her in death. She married Andrew Keithly March 18, 1931, in Ulysses. He preceded her in death.

She was a member of Countryside Baptist Church in Hutchinson. She was a member of the Newton Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 5 of Newton.

Survivors include: three daughters, Patricia Hessman of Newton, Corine Stout of Baldwin City and Gladys Ann Walton of Halstead; a son, Eugene Keithly of Louisburg; 34 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by: two brothers, Leonard Keplinger and Wilbur Keplinger; a sister, Cora Thomas; and a grandson, John Walton.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, all at Petersen Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerroll Martens of Meridian Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton.

Memorials have been established with Cal Farley's Boys Ranch in care of the funeral home.
