Kemper, Jack
The Newton Kansan
Jack D. Kemper, 75, died Tuesday (May 29, 2001) at Newton Medical Center.
He was born June 16, 1925, to Jesse O. and Agnes (McDougal) Kemper in Newton. They preceded him in death. He married Elvera Jane Jantz May 10, 1961, in Carlsbad, N.M. She preceded him in death Feb. 6, 2001.
He retired from the Santa Fe Rail Mill in Newton after 43 years of service. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eagles Lodge. He was a member of Halstead Baptist Church. He enjoyed fellowship with church members, fishing, and playing pool at the Newton Area Senior Center.
Survivors include: a daughter, Deborah J. Connor of Hillsboro; a son, David Kemper of Newton; a brother, Bob Kemper of Nevada, Mo.; a sister, Jan Koch of Olathe; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Restlawn Gardens of Memory with Pastor Roger Erickston officiating.
Memorials have been established with the Newton Area Senior Center in care of the funeral home.
