Obituary

Mrs. Hattie May Steele, 101, died Tuesday, March 16, 1982 at Friendly Acres in Newton where she had resided since March 1972. She was born May 29, 1880 at rural Halstead, the daughter of William and Eleanor Boyer.

She married Ara H. Steele on November 24, 1897 in Newton. He died November 18, 1923. She had resided in the rural Halstead area all of her life until moving to Friendly Acres.

She was a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church; Pansy Circle, EHU, and the Sixty Plus Club of Hutchinson.

Survivors: four sons; Alva and Eldo Steele, both of Halstead; Wayne and Dr. B. A. Steele, both of Hutchinson; one daughter, Louene McBride, Hays; 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Services were held March 10 at the First United Methodist Church in Halstead. Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery.
