John E Burgert

Friends and relatives here have news of the death of John E. Burgert, who passed away at his home in Kaw City, Okla., early this morning, following illness from Bright's disease at about 62 years of age. Mr. Burgert will be brought to Newton tonight and funeral services will be conducted at the Sprinkler-Carter chapel Monday forenoon at 10:30 by Dr. J. R. Caffyn.

Mr. Burgert leaves his wife and children as follows: Carl, Robert, Stewart, Charlotte and Louise at home, Mrs. W. T. Lehman of near Halstead and Mrs. Gertie Bretch of St. Louis.

Mr. Burgert was an early citizen of Newton having resided here prior to occupying the Bretch farm five miles northwest of Newton. The family left this county, going to Kaw City about 16 years ago.
