Duby, William L.

The Newton Kansan

William L. "Buss" Duby, 64, Fox Meadows Apartments, retired assistant superintendent of the Newton Public Schools, died Monday at the home of his sister in Rialton, California where he and Mrs. Duby had been visiting the past 10 days.

He was born May 5, 1910 at Miltonvale, Kansas, son of Phillip and Ollie Cole Duby. He married Pauline E. Richert August 16, 1936 in Newton.

He was a member and an elder of the First United Presbyterian Church, the Elks Lodge, National Retired Teachers Assn., Kansas National Education Assn., Newton Teachers Assn.; Phi Delta Kappa; a life member of the Newton Lions Club of which he was a past president and had served as secretary-treasurer for 21 years. He was also a past district governor of Lions and a member of the International Council. He had been a teacher for 40 years and spent one year, 1950-1951 as principal of the American Dependent Schools in Germany.

Survivors: his wife of the home, one daughter, Miss Deanna Duby, Washington, D.C.; one brother, Ernest, Filer, Idaho and one sister, Mrs. Roy (Arna) Brown, Rialto, California.

Services will be Friday at the church in Newton with Rev. Louis L. Dale officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
