Hobbs, John F.

The Newton Kansan

John F. Hobbs, 64, 409 Est 9th, died January 8, 1975 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital after a long illness. He was born February 5, 1910 in Colorado Springs, the son of Joseph and Laura Hobbs. He came to Newton in 1946.

He was a retired state insurance agent and had worked for Midland Mutual Insurance Co. in Newton for 26 years. He was the first lifetime member of the Kansas 1752 Club. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a master sergeant with the U.S. Air Force in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, 40 and 8, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Elks Lodge.

He married Helen Morgan in 1953. She survives of the home; Other survivors include one sister, Mrs. Kenneth Young, Redondo Beach, California and two brothers, Maurice and Emmett, both of Des Moines, Iowa.

Services will be Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
