Koerner, Alex C.

The Newton Kansan

Alex C. Koerner, 72, 300 Beverly Ave. a lifetime resident of the Newton area, died Sunday morning at Bethel Deaconess Hospital where he had been a patient since Tuesday following a heart attack.

He was born January 13, 1903 in Harvey County, the son of Otto and Elizabeth McDaniel Koerner. He married Hazel Hickerson April 8. 1923 at Annelly. She survives of the home.

Mr. Koerner was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and an elder of the church. He was a member of the Newton Masonic Lodge and the Wichita Consistory. He was a retired farmer-stockman; a retired territorial sales manager for Prestressed Concrete Feed Bunks; was instrumentsal in organizing McLaine's Grain, Inc. and developed the Koerner Heights addition in Newton.

Other survivors in addition to the widow; one son, Charles A., Newton; four daughters, Mrs. Dallice (Alice E.) Baumgartner; Mrs. Richard (Kathleen E.) Perkins and Mrs. Ben (Sandra Sue) Stahly, all of Newton; and Mrs. Norman (Beverly Joan) Tice, Wichita; one sister, Mrs. Lola Gast, Newton; and 16 grandchildren.

Services will be held at the church with Rev. Louis L. Dale officiating. Graveside services will be conducted by the Masonic Lodge. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
