Mrs. Jeanne Meier, 51, 614 East 6th, died Sunday, June 1, 1975 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital after an extended illness. She was born December 7, 1923 in McPherson, daughter of Rudolph and Anna Krehbiel. She grew up in McPherson and Moundridge and had lived in Newton the past 25 years.
She was a member of St. Luke United Presbyterian Church, where she had served as director of the adult choir, had directed the St. Luke Singers, a youth choir; and has directed the Vacation Bible School at St. Luke Church for several summers. She had been a Sunday School teacher and an officer and a member of United Presbyterian Women. She had been a teacher in the Week Day Bible School; and had directed the Youth Choirs of Salem United Methodist Church for 14 years. She was a member of the board and served as secretary of Warkentin House and more recently was in charge of the guided tours at the ouse.
She had served as president and secretary of the various PTA groups in Newton and volunteered as a teacher's aide. She had been active in 4-H leadership as well as in girl and boy scouting programs. She was a member of the Aldine Club.
She married Dale Meier November 27, 1944 in Moundridge. He survives. Other survivors: four daughters, Mrs. Doug (Karen) Achterhof, Orange City, Iowa; Mrs. Mario (Judy) Garcia, Newton; Mrs. Bob (Bette) Johnston, Denver, Colorado; and Mrs. Tom (Patti) Church, Lincoln, Nebraska; three sons, Stan, Tom and Jim of the home; her mother, Mrs. R. R. Krehbiel, Hutchinson; two sisters, Mrs. Burdette Johnson, McPherson and Mrs. Quinton Vesper, Hutchinson; one brother, Clinton J. Krehbiel, Salina; six grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday in Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenwood cemetery.
