Services for Dr. V. A. Myers, 58, 921 Spencer, Newton chiropractor who died Wednesday evening in Wichita will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cochran Mortuary in Wichita. Rev. Donald B. Schroeder, formerly of Newton and pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church, Wichita, will officiate and burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Dr. Myers was born September 3, 1916 at Elsmore, Kansas, the son of Foster and Faye Copeland Myers. He grew up in the Chanute area. He was graduated from the University of Kansas and the Kansas Chiropractic College. He had been a practicing chiropractor in Newton for 27 years. Me and Mrs. Myers are the owners of Myers Health and Diet Foods. Mr. and Mrs. Myers were visiting frriends in Wichita when he was sticken. He was dead upon arrival at Wesley Medical Center
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Newton and had served as a Sunday School superintendent, a deacon and an elder. He was a member of Newton Masonic Lodge, the Wichita Consistory and is a 32nd degree Mason. He is also a past Lt. Governor of the Kiwanis Club of Kansas, and was founder of the Newton Toastmaster's Club.
He married Bonnell D. Flaker at Girard November 30, 1944. She survives of the home. Other survivors: one son, Edward Allen, Houston, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Barry (Constance) Gaston, Cincinnati, Ohio and Victoria Ann Myers, Houston; his mother, Mrs. Faye Myers, Ft. Scott, Kansas and two grandsons.
