Sharits, Lola D.

The Newton Kansan

Mrs. Lola D. Sharits, 87, formerly of 422 East 9th and a resident of the Peabody Memorial Nursing home since October 9, 1972 died Monday, February 3, 1975 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital.

She was born August 21, 1887 at Sedgwick, the daughter of James and Eliza Jane Crose Ross. She was a lifetime resident of Harvey County. She married Orvel C. Sharits June 2, 1909 at Halstead. He died January 24, 1972.

Mrs. Sharits was a member of First United Methodist Church, Harvey County Senior Citizens, a charter member of Golden Circle EHU, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors, Auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, and the Post Office Auxiliary.

Survivors: two sons, Loren R. and James T., both of Phoenix, Arizona; four daughters, Mrs. Bernie (Helen) Long, Whitewater; Mrs. Allen (Fern) Oberg, Houston, Texas; Mrs. Donald (Pearl) Holmes, Newton and Mrs. Clarence (Hazel) Dalke, Augusta; one sister, Mrs. Gladys Stewart, Ft. Dodge, Iowa; 23 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Services will be Thursday at Draper-Cannon Chapel. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
