Weesner, Melvin R.

The Newton Kansan

Melvin R. Weesner, 56, died Wednesday, August 13, 1975, at the Halstead Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born November 29, 1918 at Emporia. He married Gladys L. Ewert, June 30, 1940 at Newton.

He was the former owner-operator of the Weesner Auto Services in Halstead and for the past two years, had worked in maintenance at United Methodist Youthville, Newton and was also a substitute rural mail carrier. He had resided in Halsteaad since June 1942, moving from Newton.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Halstead. He was a member of the Halstead Masonic Lodge, the Odd Fellows Lodge and Rural Mail Carriers Association.

Survivors: wife, Gladys of the home; three sons, Everett, Colorado Springs; Donald, Sedgwick; William, Halstead; one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Delores) Mages, Bonita, California; his mother, Mrs. Mary Weesner, Newton; one brother, Oscar, Whitewater; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Schill, Newton; Mrs. Arlene Baxter, El Segundo, California and Mrs. Beverly Wildoner, Seattle, Washington and nine grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday at the Church with burial in the Halstead Cemetery. Masonic graveside services will be held.
