Obituary

John D. Regier, 65, Hiawatha, a former Halstead resident and brother of Roberta Janzen, Burrton, died Monday December 6, 1993 at his home of cancer.

He was born December 24, 1927 at Halstead, son of Arnold and Charlotte Wegener Regier. Moving his family to Hiawatha in 1963, he was employed with Western Electric and AT&T for 34 years before retiring in 1986..

He was a member of the Hiawatha Lions Club for 27 years, serving in various offices and as secretary for over 20 years. He also served in various offices at the District and State level. He was a member of the First Congretational Church, the Telephone Pioneers of America, Communications Workers of America, AFL, CIO, Brown County Historical Society, Hiawatha Pride Committee, Hiawatha, Elks Lodge and Friends of the Library of Hiawatha.

He married Virginia Hollister at Sedgwick on December 23, 1949. Survivors: Widow of the home; two sons, Christopher Regier, Lenexa; and Michael Regier, Chicago, Ill; one brother, Richard Regier, Peoria, Illinois; another sister, Colleen Yoder, Peabody and two grandchildren.

Memorial service was Friday at the First Methodist Church in Hiawatha. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Kansas.
