Teofila "Josephine" Luna, 88, homemaker, died Tuesday July 12, 2011 at her home in Belle Plaine. She was born January 8, 1923 at Belle Plaine, to Isabel and Gavina (Morquecho) Gomez.
She was a former resident of Sedgwick since 1942, prior to moving to Belle Plaine in 2008. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Altar Sopciety, both of Halstead. On November 16, 1942, she married Victor Luna Sr. at Newton. He died September 6, 1996.
Survivors: sons; Joseph (Carol) Luna; Anthony; John (Gail) Luna, Surprise, Arizona; David (Irene) Luna, Bentley; Ernest Luna, Newton; Victor Jr. (Linda) Luna, Haysville; daughters; Mary (Larry) Ayala, Sedgwick; Mary Ann Luna, Sedgwick; Denise Luna, Independence, Missouri; Cecilia Julius, Belle Plaine; Anita (Ken) Allison, Newton; 24 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Manual Anthony; grandsons, Victor Luna III and Floyd Williams, brothers, Pete and John Gomez and sister; Lucille Castillo; Kathleen Hatfield; Pauline Gomez; Lupe Rico and Lorenza Gomez.
Rosary was Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass of the Christian Burial was July 16 at Sacred Heart Church with Father Stephen Baxter officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Kansas.
