Kemper, Charlotte S.
Sedgwick Pantagraph
Charlotte G. Smith was born in the state of New York in the year 1828 and died at her home in Sedgwick, Kansas, June 27, 1909, aged 80 years, 11 months and 28 days.
Her family moved with her to Illinois when she was a mere child. She was united in marriage with Albert White near Princeton, Illinois in 1847. To this union were born two sons and two daughters. One son, Harvey White survives. She married Dr. A. D. H. Kemper July 21, 1869. To this union was born one son, Charlew M. Kemer, who survives his mother. Mrs. Kemper was a member of the Congregational Church at the time of her death. She was a member of the Eastern Star.
Funeral arrangements were held at the Congregational Church in Sedgwick Thursday afternoon conducted by the pastor, Rev. Johnson. The members of Sedgwick Chapter OES followed with their ritualistic burial service. Owing to the heavy rainstorm which came at the close of the service, interment was not made until the next morning at 10:00 where Mother Kemper was laid to final rest reside her husband at the Kemper burying ground north of Sedgwick.
