David Milton McElwain, age 83 died at Burrton, November 1909. He was born in Ohio in 1826. He went to Illinois as a boy and then to Missouri where he met and won Miss Sarah Lucretia Collier in 1857. They reared eight sons and two daughters in their more than 50 years of marriage. He was the oldest member of the Masonic Lodge in Burrton. Forty-one grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren survive.
