Lichti, Rudolph Alfred

The Newton Kansan

Rudolph Alfred Lichti, 92, died January 22, 2007 at Presbyterian Manor, Newton, Kansas. He was born June 30, 1914 in Paso Robles, California, son of Daniel H. and Barbara Horsch Lichti. A resident of Newton, formerly of Glendale, Arizona and Reedley, California, he was a bookkeeper in Fruit industry packing operations.

He belonged to Grace Hill Mennonite Church, Newton, and was a former member of First Mennonite Church in Reedley, California. He was the country director for Mennonite Central Committee in Vietnam from 1961 to 1964.

He married Elda Ewert in Newton on Auguwt 5, 1949. She survives. Other survivors: son, Marlin, Newton; three brothers, Ernest and Herbert, both of Reedley; and Alfred, North Fork, California; two sisters, Hildagard Bolinger, Selma, California and Olga Neufeld, Fortuna, California and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothea Kohfeld and Peggy Irby.

Funeral services will be held at Grace Hill Mennonite Church, Newton Saturday. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery, Newton.
