Ice, Mildred



Mildred J. Ice, 90 of 1200 E. Seventh, homemaker, died today (June 21, 1993) at Newton Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 4, 1902, in Newton to Ezra C. and Nannie A. Rigby Branine.
On June 24, 1924 she married C. Frederick Ice in Newton. He died in 1991.
She was a member of Ladies Reading Circle, serving as president and other offices; P.E.O., Chapter AG, serving as and other offices; First United Presbyterian Church, serving as circle chair and other offices; Kappa Alpha Theta Social Sorority at Washburn University and University of Kansas; and the American Red Cross, serving as unit president during World War II and during the 1951 flood and Udall tornado relief.
Survivors include a son, Theodore B. Ice of Newton; four grandchildren; and four great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by a daughter Winifred Dewell; a granddaughter; and a great grandson.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Presbyterian Church with Rev. James W. Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Mausoleum.
Memorials may be sent to the Church or Presbyterian Manor in Newton, both in Care of the funeral home.
