Obituary

Ruby A. Dirks, 78, a former Halstead resident, died February 13, 1988 at the Moundridge Manor. She was born November 27, 1909 at Syracuse, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and Eliabeth Unruh Smith. She married Menno Dirks December 5, 1926 in Halstead. He died February 4, 1984. She had been a long time Halstead area resident, before moving to the manor. She was a member of Grace Mennonite Church, Halstead, Kansas

Survivors: sons, Willis, Rural Halstead and Edward, Rural Sedgwick; daughters; Ruth Smith, Halstead; Ivalee Becker, Rural Sedgwick; brothers; Dennis Smith, Santa Fe, New Mexico; Davy Smith, Texline, Texas; Lloyd Smith, Halstead; Eldon Smith, Nigeria; Sisters, Mildred Dirks, Marlena Dirks and Emma Koehn, all of Halstead and Luvina Koehn, Burns; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Church. Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery. Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead, was in charge of arrangements.
