Obituary

Mrs. Dwight (Jean E.) McFarland, 59, 209 S. Georgie, Derby, died Sunday, August 10, 1980 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Wichita, after a long illness. She was born March 13, 1921 at Halstead, the daughter of Roy and Martha Baum Simonson. She married Dwight McFarland August 28, 1940 at Halstead. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Derby. Survivors: Husband of the home; son, Ken, Austin, Texas; two daughters; Mrs. Sharon Burke, Middletown, Rhode Island and Mrs. Sharlot Van Deest, Mulvane; her mother, Mrs. Martha Simonson, Halstead; two sisters; Mrs. Norma Berry, Severna Park, Maryland; and Mrs. Faye Osborne, Sedgwick; and four grandchildren. Services were held Wednesday morning, August 13 at the church. Graveside services were held at noon on Wednesday at the Halstead Cemetery. A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association.
