Obituary

A. J. "Moody" Armendariz, 76, died Sunday January 10, 1999 at his home in Halstead. He was born August 15, 1922, at Halstead, son of Gavino and Esther Triana Armendariz. A lifelong resident of Halstead, he was a tool and die supervisor for Cessna Aircraft before retiring. He was a member of Sacred Heaart Catholic Church, Halstead, the American Legion Post No. 2 and the Elks Lodge, both of Newton. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran serving in World War II.

Survivors: companion, Carol Koehn of the home; sons, Ruben Armendariz, Wichita and Mike Armendariz and Greg Armendariz, both of Halstead, daughters, Sandra Mendoza, Derby; Cindy Schmidt, Sedan, New Mexico; brother, Salvador Armendariz, Halstead; sister, Caramen Armendariz, Halstead; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Marie and sisters, Esther Armendariz and Connie Hernandez.

Rosary was January 12 at the Catholic Church. Funeral mass was Wednesday at the church. Burial was in the Hastead Cemetery.
