Vaughn, James Charter "J.C."

Harvey County Independent

James Charater (J.C.) Vaughn, 75, Halstead, died Monday, May 1, 2000 at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita. He was born October 2, 1924 in Bakersfield, Missouri to Jessie Earl and Bessie Belle Nicks Vaughn. He was a retired chief maintenance engineer for the Halstead Hospital. He was a World War II United States Army veteran and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Halstead.

On November 1, 1947 he married LaVera Lou Pjesky at Halstead. She survives. Other survivors: two sons, Steve Vaughn, Halstead and Stan Vaughn, Salina, four brothers, Roy Vaughn, Bentley, Paul Vaughn, Sedgwick, Carl Vaughn, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Jim Vaughn, Newton; one sister, Iola Schaumbereg, McPherson; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Eugene Vaughn and Ralph Eldon Vaughn and one sister, Opal Brown.

Funeral will be Thursday, May 4 at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Halstead Cemetery.
