Obituary

Arthur O. Carter, 96, lifetime Halstead resident, died January 2, 2001 at Halstead Place in Halstead. He was born March 21, 1904 at Halstead, son of Robert L. and Florence Moore Carter.

He was a 1922 graduate of Halstead High School and was a retired assistant post master of Halstead. He was a member of the First United Methocist Church; International Order of Odd Fellows; former Lions Club member and a former Halstead volunteer fireman, all of Halstead, and a member of B.P.O.E., Newton.

He married Constance V. Amos August 8, 1925. She preceded him in death August 28, 1984. He is survived by one son, Robert M. Carter, Wichita; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Jane Hiser, two brothers, Mark Carter and Knolton "Jack" Carter and three sisters, Vivian Sheffler, Telva Nichols and Elsie Krause.

The funeral service will be Friday, January 5 at the church. Burial will be in the Halstead Cemetery.
